Use your French Knitting Doll to create this eyecatching chunky necklace.
You Will Need:
- French knitting doll
- Wool in your favourite colour
- A pair of scissors
- 2 end caps
- Jump rings
- Lobster Clasp
- 2 short length of chain
- Round nosed pliers
- Craft glue (I used E6000)
Instructions:
Step 1
Knit a long rope of French knitting using your knitting dolly. I made mine approximately 1.5m with a short tail of wool on either end. If you haven’t French knitted before you can follow the steps here.
Step 2
Starting in the middle tie your knitting into loose knots – play with the size of the knots and looping your rope through gaps to see which effects you like best. Symmetry will keep your necklace looking balanced and hanging straight.
Step Three: Fixings
Trim back the tails of wool on each end of the rope and then glue each end into your metal end caps. Attach your jump rings by opening them with the pliers and looping through the end caps. Loop one short length of chain to each jump ring also before closing them tightly with your pliers.
Remember that the chain length will determine the length of your necklace so do measure to make sure you’ll be able to wear it!
Add another jump ring to each end of the chain and add a lobster clasp on one side.
Your necklace is complete – wear with a cute collar or a slouchy jumper to get that chilled out Sunday look.
