Winter is almost here, and while it’s wonderful to have a warm home, we can all still feel the chill sometimes. There are several inexpensive and satisfying steps you can take to ensure you feel as snug as possible.

Wrap up
Put on two or three thin items of clothing underneath your regular clothes. Tights, vests, t-shirts, and long socks all work well. You can adjust the layers easily throughout the day depending on how warm or cool you feel.

Feel the warmth
For a quick and easy handwarmer that you can use over and over, fill a sock with rice and tie it up tight. Stick it in the microwave for a minute or two, and relish the warmth! Alternatively, stock up on a supply of hot water bottles for the whole family.

Plan your meals to suit the weather
This one may sound trivial, but it really does make a difference. Swap your summer meals for casseroles, homemade soups and chili. Not only will your house smell amazing, you’ll be eating healthily and they’ll help keep you cosy.

Throw it on
You never know when you’re suddenly going to want to wrap yourself up, but you might not always have the energy to run to the storage cupboard upstairs and pull out a blanket. Keep a selection of decorative, homely throws scattered throughout the rooms and you’ll only have to walk a couple of feet!

Drink lots
Replace fizzy drinks and juice with warm beverages such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate and honey with lemon. Don’t forget to drink lots of water too, as you need to stay hydrated.
Winter isn’t a time to dread because of the biting wind: it’s a time to adore. Snuggle up, grab a book and a blanket, and enjoy!
