We’ve all seen the movies and even the TV shows where the actresses walk around in red bottom shoes, dripping in expensive jewellery, living in penthouse apartments and seemingly never work. If they do, they seem to have a small part-time job that affords them some crazy luxuries. And that’s not always real life. However, here is a list of some lux mini items and some big ones that you should put on your lust list and if you ever have the opportunity make sure you buy them for yourself. You might have to put in some effort to save up for some of them. And yes you’re right money isn’t everything and nor are material things, but sometimes a perfect lipstick can help you feel like you can take over the world.
Firstly find your local spa and take a look at what they have on their list of services. Try to pick something a little bit high-end little bit more luxury, think about hot stone massages, or a face massage. Ideally, something that is going to leave you feeling glowing and glistening happy from inside and out. This is more about moments of mindfulness, getting rid of stress, keeping yourself relaxed, and bringing the whole thing back to you. The money that you spent here isn’t so much a gift for you to bring something home but instead is something that you can’t put a price on and that’s pure relaxation.
Something small and pretty luxurious that you can treat yourself to almost on a monthly basis is Mani-Pedi. Picking out a new length of the nail, unique style, and new color can make you feel terrific. This doesn’t have to be massively expensive, but it does feel quite luxurious. A good nail technician will give you a hand and foot massages rubbing cuticle oils in and have a general chat – bliss. Giving your hands a new lease of life and quite often with fancy nails, you do ultimately feel a little more upmarket.
Take yourself to the nearest makeup counter try and pick something that you might not necessarily already have. Pick a slightly more luxurious brand then maybe you typically would. Check out MAC, Bobbi Brown, Lancome, Charlotte Tilbury, YSL or Chanel. Spend time with the lady on the counter and get her to look at the colors that will suit you best. Think about the small everyday items that you use like perhaps an eyebrow pencil, and purchase something like that first. Then move onto something with some color, think about a new lipstick or an eyeshadow it will last a little bit longer, but every time you look at it you know that you took the time to find something that suited you from a high-end brand.
This one is a little bit bigger than lipstick or a Mani-pedi. This one is finding a place that you would love to stay saving money and then booking the penthouse. The idea here is to give yourself a night or two (depending on what you can afford and how long you want to stay) away from your typical environment. Pack small bag have a look at the menu to order yourself breakfast too. See how you feel maybe take a notebook and write down thoughts and feelings, some new ideas, and get creative. Don’t spend the whole time in the penthouse although they are very fancy and you have pretty much everything you’d need in there. Explore the hotel or the building you’re in, see what kind of things are happening in the local area. Try and coincided your stay with a festival or a music concert or something else that you would enjoy.
Get a fragrance consultation. This might sound a little bit scary but head to a fragrance counter. Ask the specialist to go through some different scents with you-you will eventually be able to find your new signature scent. It might not necessarily be the scent that you thought you would be wearing. Many people stick to the same smell for years and years without testing out any new ones, but the market is so vibrant with fragrances floral rich deep luxurious fruity that will be a shame to miss out. Simple but life-changing.
Get packing. Now unlike the penthouse, we mean a lovely relaxing weekend at home get a foot pack, a face pack, and hair pack. Try to get something that is going to compliment your hair. For example, if you have dry hair purchase something moisture rich like coconut oil, make sure you read the packaging, stick to as many natural ingredients as possible chemicals aren’t great for your hair, especially when they’re sitting there for up to 10 minutes. Likewise, for the face mask, try and find one made with natural ingredients. Again something that complements your skin – if you have combination skin, if you have dry skin, or if you’re prone to spots. Get something to treat that initial issue but then remember to get yourself a moisturizing pack for when you’re done. Often face masks can be drying and make your face feel very tight. If you add a moisturizing face pack after the first treatment, you get the best of both worlds. For your foot pack generally, you want something super moisturizing, maybe honey and milk something that smells nice too. Remember when you remove these, there is a potential that you can fall your feet will be slippy, so be careful. This will make you feel like $1 million and probably will cost under $10.
Fix your facial hair. Everybody knows by now that eyebrows are sisters, not twins. However, not everybody knows the difference that proper brow shaping can make to your face. Maybe you’ve walked past a Benefit brow bar couple of times and not seen the point. But if you have the right brow shape your whole face can look different. Great brows can make your eyes look bigger and brighter. Well-shaped eyebrows can you even make you look younger, so it’s entirely worth checking out. And P.S when you find the right brow bar stick with it.
Buy yourself a pair of shoes that every time you look at your heart skips a beat. There are a lot of times in life that we don’t buy the shoes that we want because we’re not confident we can walk in them. We perhaps have nowhere to wear them. You don’t have to go all out and buy super high heels; you could, of course, buy yourself something flat and comfortable like a Gucci pump, a Prada flip-flop, even a Versace slipper. The point here is to buy something a little bit more glamorous than your everyday pair of shoes like your Converse all your Vans all your no brand shoes. You might have to save hard for these but once you have them the likelihood is you’ll wear them so sparingly that they’re never going to get damaged. Investment.
A little black dress. Millions of women all over the world have multiple dresses but usually one or two dresses that are like best friends. The dresses fitted beautifully, are flattering and were not ultracheap. They tend to have support in all of the right places and tailored beautifully. If you do not happen to have one of these or you purchased one a long time ago, it might be time to upgrade or invest. Think about the look that you are trying to achieve. This might be a great time to head to Pinterest and have a look at capsule wardrobes, see what brands keep reappearing on the capsule wardrobe pins? If the little black dress is just not your style, try and find something else to invest in perhaps a cute shirt or skirt some jeans or even a jacket? The idea is to buy yourself a longer lasting investment piece that you fall in love with something that it’s not going to go out of style because it is probably a classic in both style and cut.
Treat yourself to a happiness journal usually each page is filled with innovative ideas about how to keep yourself in a happy space. Mindfulness is a significant trend and has been for the last few years however that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try and get in on the action. Make happiness priority in your life, and you’ll find that you’ll always find the luxury and little things.
If you are a lifelong learner like so many of us, it might be time to treat yourself to a course. Not everyone has time to attend a session in person, but there are lots of places online that offer classes that you can do in your own time. It is the perfect time to retrain or gain a skill that you’ve wanted to learn for ages. Perhaps rather than spending money on an online course you like to learn slowly and when you can. Not necessarily for certification either. YouTube comes in extremely handy here; there will be a Youtube tutorial for almost any skill that you would want to pick up as well smaller DIY jobs around the house just to make pretty things.
