When winter rolls around it’s comforting to get the patchwork quilts out on show – not to mention their practical use! Putting them away doesn’t mean forgetting about them or storing them in plastic packaging until the cold weather rolls around again. We’ve found some of our favourite ways of storing blankets in a neat and stylish way.

This John Lewis Pendleton Trunk Coffee Table (£599.00) serves two purposes: to keep things on, and to keep things in! You can slide the top sections apart to reveal a hidden hollow inside, perfect for those patchworks quilts. And when summer rolls around and you have put the blankets in the attic, you can use the oak unit to store your summer reading and beach equipment.

If you like the idea of a piece of furniture with ‘hidden’ storage, try this Taupe ‘Shangri La’ Storage Ottoman (RRP: 259.00). Its tailored shape will work well in any interior, from modern to chic. You can even kit the entire room out in the Shangri La range, available from Debenhams.

Keeping them tidy doesn’t have to mean hiding them away! Why not go for a different look and hang a quilt up on the wall? You can use a quilt hanger such as this Classic Curl Fabric Holder from The Cotton Patch (NOT AFF) (RRP: £12.40) to display your prettiest of patchwork. Excellent for if you enjoy making the quilts, or just showing them off.

Display your quilts but keep them contained in this Kimberly Glazed Display Unit from Barker and Stonehouse. It looks fabulous placed in a shabby chic styled room, thanks to the distressed effect that will increase with age. Currently available for £459.00, buy yours now while it’s on sale.

Of course, sometimes the best place to store your quilts is in a simple sideboard. We love this Bordeaux Large Sideboard from BHS, as it is the perfect combination of simplicity and elegance. It adds a gracious touch to any room, and is large enough for more than just your blankets! At only £479.19, it’s too good of a deal to pass up!
